Our team captain just SMS'ed me earlier that the UTILCO Cup football tourney got cancelled. On the other hand, the GLOBE SuperCup will be held earlier. Sayang, the UTILCO Cup would have prepared us more for the bigger Globe-sponsored tourney.
It's great to know though that private companies like Globe is all out in sponsoring a sport other than basketball!
My club, Lateo FC, will join the UTILCO Football Cup which opens this coming Saturday, Aug. 30 at 8:00am(arghh! too early!). Our first game though against BASA(AFP officers, I think...) will still be the day after at 10am. The tournament will be played at the ASCOM field in Fort Bonifacio.
It's about time I get back in the fray and stretch these dormant muscles, err... lose this tub of lard in my body. Which reminds me, I better jog later. Visions of me collapsing on that field doesn't quite make a good picture. :-)
For two weekends now, I'm practicing football again at Xavier in Greenhills. I've noticed that on both occasions, it took me 30-45 minutes longer to get there from Dasma, Cavite. It just reminded me of why I took a hiatus on football practice in the first place.
I always take South Superhighway in favor of the Coastal Road because the latter has this reputation of having the worst traffic jams this side of the earth. Although, South Super also has its share of jams, it's not as bad since most of the time, you see vehicles moving albeit at a slow pace. Coastal traffic is just horrible. Everyone's trying to get ahead of you and chances of getting nicked or bumped is up there in the 90s!
But then, I just read somewhere that the Alabang viaduct is going to be repaired starting early 2004. They'll be closing one side for repairs and the other side would have counterflows of vehicles running north and south. And you know what that means --- more traffic jams!
Guess that's my cue to take up another hobby and just stay at home!
Does the name Jay Alonzo ring a bell? Well, his name might not conjure anything familiar in our mind but the images that he took will certainly will !!! Ordinary guys like us dream of seeing beautiful women in all their naked glory. This guy *shoots*... err, photograph them for a living.
He once gave a lecture about Lighting in one of Ph-Photo's EB and boy, we were all drooling at the pictures he took of Assunta, Maricar de Mesa, Belinda Bright, Aubrey Miles(!), etc. That's when I realized I was in the wrong profession after all. All I see at work are bare Printed Circuit Boards and that's pathetic!
Check out his blog aptly named SERENE WATERS. I'll surely visit this often. Hehehe!
Every Sunday, my wife and I hear mass at this small church up there in Silang, Cavite - the Lady of LaSallette. Aside from the tranquility that envelopes the place being far from the city, a whole lot of nature also surrounds it. Here are a few images I took there.
Looking for inspiration to induce your creative juices to flow?... check out this guy who has been doing self-portraits for more than a year now... EVERYDAY!!!
Our department at work will have a mini-Olympics today and since last week, most people have been trash talking already. Every team have their own claims of superiority. Almost always it's just pure talk. Hehe! Since we're connected with our San Jose, CA office - we decided to call ourselves, San Jose Sharks. Yeah, from the hockey team of the same state. Pretty unimaginative huh?
Anyways, after the design was finalized, we decided to have t-shirts printed with it. So went sent off the design and shirts to a friend's printing shop and awhile ago, we finally got the shirts.
But the look on our faces upon seeing the printed shirts were looks of DISMAY! Damn! As if some 1-year old kid played with a silkscreen and decided to print the shirts himself. We trusted the guy since he has already gone commercial with the printing stuff and so it was assumed that he can do it fairly well. But he proved us wrong. And I'm more pissed because I was the one who suggested that we get him to do the job. Wait 'til he hears it from me. Damn!
Guess there'll be no repeat customers for him from this side of town... tsk, tsk, tsk...
Seems Beckham finally got it going in Real. He scored his first goal in a friendly with FC Tokyo. Good to see that he's slowly settling in. I can't wait for the La Liga to open.
Beckham put Madrid up 1-0 in the 37th minute with a trademark curling free kick from the left-hand edge of the area after Argentine international Santiago Solari was tripped up just outside the box on a questionable decision by Japanese referee Masayoshi Okada.
